Old Faithful Inn Fireplace

The Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park is one last remaining log hotels in the country and home to one of the grandest fireplaces as well.

The hotel, designed by Robert Reamer, features an enormous lobby with 65-foot ceilings supported by a web of lodgepole pine logs. The centerpiece of this lobby is the fireplace, which reaches floor to ceiling. Made of the volcanic rock rhyolite, the Old Faithful Inn fireplace weighs some 500 tons. This grand hearth has been providing a luxurious place for visitors to warms their toes since 1904. Want to visit? Make your reservations well in advance- the inn can fill up a year in advance.
