Follow the Hy-C_Band-Around_Assembly Instructions for assembling and installing Band-Around Outside Mount Chimney Caps. Band-Around Chimney Caps are available in both standard sized chimneys (16″ x 16″, 17″ x 17″,  17″ x 21″, and 21″ x 21″) and custom-made sizes.

Other Outside Mount Chimney Caps will arrive completely assembled. First, set your outside mount chimney cap on your chimney just like you would put a lid on a shoe box.

Then you have your choice of attaching your Outside Mount Chimney Cap with Tapcon masonry fasteners or with adhesive.

You can install an Outside Mount Chimney Cap with Adhesive.

Chimney Cap or Construction Adhesive

If using the Tapcon masonry screw system, drill through the vertical skirt of your chimney cap and into the chimney approximately every 12 inches using a Tapcon drill bit. Then insert and tighten each Tapcon Masonry Fastener.

If you prefer using adhesive, apply a discontinuous zigzag bead of adhesive to affix the vertical skirt of the chimney cap to the vertical sides of the chimney. The discontinuous bead allows any accumulated water to drain.  That way, water does not accumulate on your chimney crown and degrade it. Position the chimney cap over the chimney, like the lid on the shoe box.

Both Band-Around chimney caps and custom outside mount chimney caps have removable lids, so the lids can be removed to clean your flues without removing the whole outside mount chimney cap.
