Pilgrim has designed these fireplace grates for all the folks with fireplaces who are tired of sweeping up and throwing out chunks of wood from the fireplace
floor. Those chucks of not-fully-burned wood are unused energy and firewood you have already paid for (either with cash or your own labor!) In addition, the metal mesh hold small
tender and kindling in place as you start your fire.
Pilgrim welded a heavy gauge expanded metal mesh onto the cross bars of these sturdy fireplace grates, providing a screening that keeps those large embers
up on the fireplace grate where they will burn with the logs. A more complete burn means more heat from the same amount of firewood, an idea whose time has come!
The Ember Grates by Pilgrim are available in three popular sizes. The fireplace grate shown above is the mid-sized Model 18601-FSD. You may also know these ember retaining
fireplace grates as Pilgrim's EG-Series.
These Ember Fireplace Grates by Pilgrim are designed for tapered wood-burning fireplaces with a wider opening at the front than at the back.
Like all Pilgrim Fireplace Grates, the Ember Retaining Grates are constructed of heavy duty,
oversized 1 1/8" by 13/16" diamond steel bar stock using both mechanical pressure and Electro-Forging.
All of the Ember Screening Fireplace Grates by Pilgrim are 17 inches deep and have a
clearance of 6 inches. The number of bars varies with the size of the fireplace grates (see chart, below.)
Pilgrim's tapered Ember Fireplace Grates have a lifetime warranty: If at any time during its
lifetime one of these Pilgrim Ember Retaining Fireplace Grates fails, it will be replaced once.
