The North Star Fireback is an accurate star chart for locating the North Star. The Big Dipper constellation is shown with large stars on the right side of the fireback, and the Little Dipper is display on the left of the fireback. Here's how the "Rule of the North Star" works: Using the "pointer" stars in the bowl of the Big Dipper (the two large stars at the top, right of the fireback,) follow the line through the eye of the Moon to find the North Star (the large star at the top, left of the fireback) at the end of the handle of the Little Dipper.
