Rain and melting snow insert moisture into unprotected bricks and mortar. As freezing and thawing occur, cracks form in the chimney. Whether venting wood, coal, gas, oil, or even nothing at all, an unprotected chimney can result in dangerous leaks.
ChimneySaver Water Repellent is available in your choice of a water-based formula and a solvent-based formula to protect chimneys and to prevent water damage to chimneys. Water-Based ChimneySaver Water Repellent is popular because you can apply it even to damp surfaces. Since ChimneySaver Water Repellent is VOC (environmentally) compliant, you generally don't need a respirator when using it outside. ChimneySaver Water Repellent is noncombustible and has no chemical odor.
Each gallon of ChimneySaver Water Repellent covers approximately 100 square feet of area.
Solvent-Based ChimneySaver Water Repellent should be used on chimneys previously treated with other types of water repellents.
