While many multi-flue chimney caps mount to the cement crown on top the the chimney, the Stainless Steel or Aluminum Band-Around Chimney Caps instead attach
to the outside sides of the chimney
itself. This style gives maximum protection to your chimney crown, protecting the whole thing from deterioration. The Outside Mount Band-Around Chimney Caps attach snugly with no need to drill into your chimney or chimney crown or to apply a chimney cap adhesive.
The Outside Mount Band-Around Chimney Caps fasten to your chimney with a 2.25 inch wide band at the bottom. At each corner, the band has stainless steel
nuts and bolts that allow you to get a tight, secure fit.
Although shown above on a brick chimney, the Band-Around Outside Mount Chimney Caps are also appropriate for stucco, adobe, cement, or terra cotta chimneys; flat, smooth
natural stone chimneys; and wood chases.
TO MEASURE HEIGHT: To insure adequate draft for your flues, the vertical braces and
mesh screening should be at least 6 inches taller than from the top of the first row of chimney bricks to the top of tallest flue. If this measurement is
- from zero to 3.5 inches tall, 9 inch braces are needed;
- from 3.5 to 6 inches tall, 12 inch braces are needed;
- from 6 to 9 inches tall, 15 inch braces are needed; and
- from 9 to 12 inches tall, 18 inch braces are needed.
For appropriate proportion, 12 inch vertical braces are the minimum height used for Outside Mount Band-Around Chimney Caps that are 32 inches or more in width.
 TO MEASURE BAND
for an Outside Mount Band-Around Chimney Cap, first measure the longest side of the chimney. Then, in a clockwise sequence, measure the other sides of the chimney.
