In-Out

Assembling all flanges so they are facing into the chimney cap gives a tidy appearance and works well when there is little crown space outside the chimney cap. Since the flanges are screwed in place before the lid is placed on top, this arrangement is no problem.

This is the traditional chimney cap flange placement. It works well when there is plenty of crown space outside the chimney cap or when the flues are too close to the interior sides of the chimney cap to allow for the flanges to be placed facing into the chimney cap.

This versatile arrangement, with one, two or three of the flanges facing in and the other flange(s) facing out, is sometimes appropriate. If chimney crown space is restricted in some directions, and interior space between flues and the chimney cap is limited in others, you may appreciate this flexible arrangement.
