Outside Mount Stainless Steel Chimney Caps are appropriate for chimneys of any size, with any number of flues.
Removable flat lids on the outside mount chimney caps, constructed of 24 gauge stainless steel,
allow for easy annual cleaning by your chimney sweep.
Corner braces, as seen in the photo on the right, can be added as an option.
Your choice of standard flat lids with a 3 inch lid overhang on all sides or any larger overhang you specify.
The base or skirt is constructed of 18 gauge stainless steel, and you can specify both the horizontal skirt width (how far in from the outer edge of the mesh screening will be) and the vertical skirt height (how far down the chimney the skirt goes.) The standard horizontal skirt
width is 2 inches and the standard vertical skirt height is 3 inches.
The mesh screening, which should be at least 5 inches taller than your tallest flue with a recommended 8 inch minimum, is constructed of 18 gauge stainless steel. Specify the screen height
you want for your outside mount chimney cap up to 24 inches tall.
Is the top of the cement part around your flues (the crown) more than an inch above the
chimney bricks? If so, you will need an elevation between the top edge of the
vertical skirt and the bottom of the screen mesh.
The image at the left shows a standard, flathorizontal skirt.
Unless you specify an elevation, your Custom Stainless Steel Outside Mount Flat Lid Chimney Cap will be made with the standard, flat horizontal skirt with no elevational rise.
To the right is a horizontal skirt with an elevation. The dotted brown line represents the number of
inches your elevation might need to be. It is the height from where the bottom of the mesh screen will be to the top of the first row of chimney bricks.
Your choice of either standard 3/4 inch stainless mesh screening or, for California or other
wildfire prone areas, 5/8 inch stainless mesh screening on a stainless steel custom outside mount chimney cap.
Easy to attach with the includedtapcon drill bit and tapcon screws. Or, if you prefer, outside
mount chimney caps can attached with discontinuous beads of chimney cap adhesive.
Custom Outside Mount Stainless Steel Chimney Caps come in a brushed stainless steel or can be painted with a baked-on
finish in Standard Black, Old Penny Copper Brown, or 187 other colors. Click on the mini-color chart to the right to download the full-sized chimney cap color chart. The painted finishes, which themselves have a limited warranty, are not recommended for flues that
vent oil.
Your custom outside mount chimney cap ships 3 weeks or less. If you select the Standard Black
or Old Penny Copper Brown finish on your stainless steel chimney cap, allow about 2 additional weeks. Other color selections require additional processing time.
Chimneys themselves are individually made, so outside mount chimney caps must be custom made to fit each chimney. To measure outside dimensions for a
custom stainless steel outside mount chimney cap, we recommend using a metal measuring tape or metal yardstick.
First, measure the longest side of your chimney. Then, in a clockwise
direction, measure each side in sequence. Provide us with your exact measurements and your stainless steel flat lid
