for added durability. The metal mesh is 16 gauge aluminum. The band around the bottom that attaches to the chimney is 2.25 inches wide, constructed of 18 gauge aluminum.
The Aluminum Band-Around Brick Chimney Cap fastens to your chimney with the band at the bottom. At each corner, the band has stainless steel nuts and bolts

Because the Band-Around Chimney Caps are made of aluminum, they should not be used when coal, oil, or wood pellets are the primary fuel source. They are,
however, available in stainless steel (which is ideal for all fuel types) as Custom Orders.
Please note that there must be adequate space between the top of your flue and the lid of the chimney cap to assure proper draft of your fireplace. These Aluminum
Band-Around Brick Chimney Caps are only appropriate for flues that protrude 3.5 inches or less above the top of the top row of bricks. Taller sizes, however, are available as Custom Orders.
