Three wise men, five golden rings, eight reindeer, and goodness knows how many elves! Christmas is, indeed, a time of multiples, so when decorating your fireplace mantel for the holidays, think in terms of numerous objects.

One place to get inspiration for decorating your fireplace mantel is from the things you collect and treasure.

Remember all those photos you have taken of Christmases past? Select your favorite ones from your family history, and put them in frames you already have. To give them a holiday touch and an element that unifies them, make mats for inside the frames out of a favorite Christmas wrapping paper. Or add a cluster of holly leaves or a festive bow to the corner of each frame. 

Now decorate your fireplace for Christmas by clustering those photos on your fireplace mantel. Fill in around the frames with holiday greenery and Christmas candles, and you have a dramatic and personal photo gallery to delight your family, friends, and maybe even Santa.
